Cambodia and China Emphasize Strong Bilateral Cooperation Across Various Sectors

PHNOM PENH, April 22, 2024 — On April 21, Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, met with Wang Yi, a senior member of China's Political Bureau and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his official visit to Cambodia.

The discussions underscored the dynamic growth in bilateral relations between Cambodia and China, celebrating the achievements within their comprehensive strategic partnership and the shared vision of a high-quality, high-standard community of common destiny.

The two ministers lauded the frequent and regular exchanges between the leaders of both countries, which highlight the deep political trust and robust friendship. They agreed to continue enhancing cooperation through various initiatives, including the development of the "Industrial and Technological Corridor" and the "Fish and Rice Corridor." These projects aim to boost cooperation not only in agriculture and technology but also in infrastructure, energy, economic, and trade sectors.

In addition to bilateral matters, Sok Chenda Sophea and Wang Yi also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global challenges.

This meeting marks another significant step in fortifying the ties between Cambodia and China, reflecting both nations' commitment to a prosperous and mutually beneficial relationship.
